10th Annual NORDP Research Development Conference

The 10th Annual NORDP Research Development Conference will be held May 7- 9, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City at Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia (Washington, D.C. metro area). The conference is a three-day event focused on understanding key trends in research funding, networking with colleagues, and discussing the programs, tools and skills that research development (RD) professionals bring to help organizations attract extramural research funding, increase institutional competitiveness, create research relationships, and foster innovation.

The conference promises prominent keynote speakers, as well as federal and private funding agencies representatives, to inform and inspire attendees. In addition, there will be a strong cadre of presenter-initiated sessions covering such topics as best practices in RD, managing institutional change, agency updates, building collaborations, research development at undergraduate institutions, building resilience in times of change, and more. This year we will continue using the Pillars to broadly classify presentations by focus, including RD Fundamentals, Leadership Development in RD; Professional Development; Funder Updates and Other Topics in RD.


Call for Abstracts

Abstracts are now being accepted for the 2018 National Organization of Research Development Professionals Research Development (NORDP) Conference, in Arlington, Virginia, May 7 – 9, 2018. The theme of this year's conference is "Resilience in a Shifting Research Landscape," with a focus on how we adapt, as professionals supporting individuals, teams and institutions, to changes in how research is conducted, funded and viewed by government and the public at large.

Abstracts are due by Friday, November 3, 2017 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

Call for Pre-Conference Workshops

The Preconference Workshops committee is seeking expert presenter teams with compelling and relevant content to deliver Pre-Conference Workshops on Monday, May 7, 2018 prior to the NORDP 2018 Annual Research Development Conference in Arlington, VA.

Each workshop will be four OR six hours in length and must have at least two presenters. Enrollment will be limited to 30-35 participants. Workshop proposals will be considered on any topic relevant to the broad NORDP membership and, if appropriate, linked to the conference theme of Resilience in a Shifting Research Landscape. Presenters will be paid an honorarium for their preparation and presentation. See the application announcement and the application template for full details.

Application materials must be submitted via InfoReady (link forthcoming) no later than Monday, November 20, 2017 by 5:00 PM. The Pre-Conference Workshops Committee intends to notify selected presenters by early January 2018.
