Webinar: Back to the future of work - Crafting transition and work-life plans for research development teams in a world transformed
Thursday, July 29, 2021, 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM EDT
Category: Webinars

About 70% of the workforce in the United States plunged unexpectedly into remote work in 2020 to reduce the spread of COVID-19. We are rapidly approaching another mass transition, as organizations begin to reopen physical spaces for “normal” operations. Work-life will likely look different than it did before the pandemic, even for those returning to their pre-pandemic work spaces. This time, though, we have an opportunity to “go forward to work” with intention and care. In this interactive session, attendees will be invited to share experiences, ideas, and resources and collaboratively construct a framework to support planning for this work-life change. In particular, participants in this session will:

  • Consider the implications of different institutional “back-to-the-workplace” policies and approach for ourselves and our teams
  • Develop a tailored approach to explore and prototype tactics for the future of work in your environment and team
  • Contemplate the potential stressors and challenges of the transition to the next phase of work and consider how leaders can support employees and facilitate this transition

Presenters: Melissa Vaught, University of Washington, Dean Gerstein, Pomona College, and Wendy Groves, University of California, San Diego
