Webinar on the US Department of State Fulbright Specialist Program

This 1-hour webinar will provide information on international Fulbright Specialist fellowships. It will comprise a 30 min presentation about the program, followed by presentations from two Fulbright international fellows who work in research development and faculty development.

  • Elizabeth Lance (Director, Office of Research Development, Falk College of Sport & Human Dynamics, Syracuse Univ; Fulbright Alumna to Nepal)
  • Jaime Rubin (Vice Chair for Investigator Development, Dept Medicine, Columbia University Medical Center; Fulbright Alumna to Kosovo)

Amirah Nelson is Senior Outreach Officer since 2019, having joined World Learning in 2014. She has worked on a portfolio of complex, long-term academic exchange programs. Ms. Nelson was a Fulbright Scholar in Indonesia, where she promoted citizen diplomacy and youth leadership and assisted the Indonesian Directorate General of Higher Education in its efforts to address teacher shortages in remote and/or disadvantaged areas. She holds a degree in economics and development studies from Smith College.

Elizabeth Lance is serves as Director of the Falk Office of Research Development where she works with faculty and staff colleagues to provide research development support. Dr Lance was a Fulbright US Student Fellow to Nepal in 2008-09, and has over a decade of experience in international higher education in the Middle East and South Asia. She established the Research Office at Northwestern University’s international campus in Qatar. Jaime Rubin is Faculty Affiliate, Bioethics; Vice Chair for Investigator Development, Dept of Medicine, Columbia University Medical Center She has held senior level positions, including Acting Associate Dean for Graduate Affairs, founding Director of the Office of Graduate Affairs, Acting Associate VP/Acting Associate Dean for Research Administration, and founder of the Office of Research Administration.
